Most rats like living together especially near homes where there is food and security. They can create a lot of damage. That is why you need to tame them. Have you ever thought of the best way to manage rats in your home? ‘Do it yourself’ rattraps could work well when used together with commercial rattraps. This article is mainly concerned with educating you on rat traps. It focuses on three things: DIY Homemade traps, sample commercial traps, the best baits for rat traps and where to buy them. Let us first have a look at how to make DIY homemade rattraps that would do this work successfully.

1.Sticky Traps: How to catch a Rat or a Mouse with glue

Sticky traps for rat

For this kind of a trap, have a cardboard or a plastic tray and apply a special adhesive to it. Apply glue at the center of the trap because it has a flavor pleasant for rats. Do not place it outside due to humid conditions and dust.

Catching rats on sticky tape is the best. Once you have set up the tray and applied glue, put some peanut butter or bacon on the floor inside a circle of sticky tape. This will make them cross the sticky tape as they try to get food. Eventually, they will be trapped! You should also take caution because rats are very cunning. They can easily learn your tricks.

2. Bucket & spoon rodent trap

Using a ladle and a spoon, one can easily make a domestic rattrap. It is one of the best homemade traps. All you need is a huge bucket, a spoon and some bait like a peanut butter. One way of making a peanut butter for a rattrap is simply to peel peanuts, roast them and add a tablespoon of vegetable of oil. Next, put it in a blender.

Once this is done, spread the butter on the handle of a spoon and put it across the bucket. Immediately the mouse climbs to get the peanut butter, it will fall into the bucket with spoon. You can as well use paper plate, tissue paper roll. You can also trap the rat with water in the bucket. You can try this in cases where the rats are not so many.

3. Mouse trap from milk bottles

In addition, you can make a good homemade trap from a milk bottle. All you need is to take the bottle and pour oil on the wall. This is to make the wall slippery. You can also attach any rail on the bottleneck so that the rat climbs up the bottle. Set the trap all night.

When the mouse finds food, it will climb the rail and fall into the bottle. However, the slippery walls of the bottle will prevent it from climbing out. This method is good because it is humane. It may only be too small for large flattened rats.

These diseases can be spread to humans directly, through handling of rodents, through contact with rodent feces, urine, or saliva, or through rodent bites.
